Fortunate to be one of Dick's first students within his two week workshop, I believe Dick moved vocational guidance and a reliance on trait factor models to a humanistic approach of self-inventory and life design. He helped professionals respect workers as holistic beings in search of meaning and purpose. Dick's colorful life and parachute opened widely, inclusively, and with a spirit that nudged all to define career in highly individual ways. Thank goodness his intellect, research skills and inspiring presentations touched so many. No one will fill his shoes in my lifetime.
